How & Why Should I Let Others Syndicate My RSS Feeds?

When you allow others to sydndicate your feeds, it basically means thatyou are giving permission for webmasters, ezine publishers, writers and so onto distribute and circulate your content freely.

You might have notice small orange buttons on websites that says "xml" or "rss".

These are basically buttons with the URL of the RSS feeds, to allow other people to syndicatethe website owner's contents.

And contents basically mean written materials, like advertisements,messages, newsletters and so forth.

In the past before the advent of Rss feeds, if someone wanted to use your content he/shewould have to copy and paste your entire article and post it in his web site or ezine.

This method is still practiced today.

And when you write a new article, this same person would have to copy your article and post itagain.

The process is repetitive.

However, with RSS feed syndication/circulation method, the person who wants to use your contentonly has to do work once.

And he only need to copy the URL of your RSS feed.

There is no repetition of mundane work.

You can continue to write content and publish your feed,and anyone that has your RSS URL can have the latest news from you, be it on his web site orby using a newsreader.

How blogs can help you with your online business

Now, you might be wondering: How can blogs help me with my business?

The answer is Plenty.

1. With a blog, you can easily brand yourself as an expert in your subject area and promote yourself all over the net. Blogs have taken a life of its own, and there are many blog directories springing to life.

Each blog directory is classified according to various topics of interest, and you can submit your blog to the major blog directories (my multimedia ebook shows you where).

You can then easily attract readers to your area of specialisation, and slowly brand yourself as the expert from the many readers who visit these blog directories each day.

2. Search engine will rank your web site higher if you have a blog on your site. This is because search engine "spider bots" like fresh content, and with a blog, you can just spend 5 - 10 mins
per day posting what you want to share for that day and that's it.

Do that on a consistent basis, and the search engine spider bots will come back to your site more
often. Having a blog on your own site is so simple my 9 year old cousin can do it, and you will

3. Blogs allow you to build and foster a closer relationship with your visitors and readers,
building trust and rapport.

Blogs allow readers to post comments, and it promotes interaction.

With good relationship with your readers it will be easier for you when it comes to recommending products and services because they trust you.

The Big Hoo Haa Over PodCasting
 

There seems to be a bit of a buzz about Podcasting lately - my attention was brought to it by two speakers at the coming Big Seminar (an internet marketing seminar) and also by an article published in www.Site-Reference.com (or was it Web Pro News, hee, I really can't remember...)

Anyway...

For the two speakers at the Big Seminar, well, I guess they need to come up with some topic of interest for presentation purpose.

So what exactly is a PodCast?

A PodCast is basically an Audio file that is being syndicated using RSS

or if that didnt help

A PodCast is just an RSS feed that contains an audio file inside it

How Can I Create a PodCast?
The easiest way to create a PodCast is just by attaching the Audio file you want to syndicate in your blog posting. If you use FeedBurner to optimize your feed, Feedburner will take care of the technical details, and you don't need to write a single piece of code.

It's that simple..

What Can a PodCast do?
Let's get into the meat of things. What exactly is a PodCast good for?

PodCast is helpful if you are :

a) In the music industry, say a rock band perhaps, and you want to advertise and publicise your music

b) A marketer or business owner. If you conduct interviews, teleseminars, and web casts, you can syndicate this Audio content all over the Net, and reach out to advanced users of RSS.

These are groups of people who already subscribing to Rss feeds either via a web reader or a desktop reader. There's another group of people, those "Ipodder" or Ipod fans.

With an IPod, you can download the Podcast from the Net, and listen to it offline.

c) Talk shows, news related events.
With Podcast, you can sydnicate news in Audio and reach out to a wider audience, and in a faster time too. It's another avenue for content /news distribution.

d) Training purpose
Companies, business owners, educational insitutions can use PodCast as a medium of instruction. The content is create and published only once. Students just need to download the latest podcast and they will be able to listen to the educational material.

Whether PodCast can take off and can sustain, only time will tell.

Having said that, there might be a steady group of users, courtesy of Apple's IPodders.

It's good to be back

I was in Malaysia celebrating Chinese New Year with family and friends. Didn't have Internet connection there, and only managed to find one Cyber Cafe after much searching few days later. But there were too many mails to read and I forgot to update my Blog ...oops..

Make Money With Blogs and RSS The Easy Way
 

The Easiest way to make money with blogs and rss is of course to teach others about the subject.

If you are passionate about certain topics, you can maintain multiple blogs, like what Darren from ProBlogger does.

My jaws literally dropped when I saw he had 16 Blogs!! WOW !

I wonder how he finds time to maintain all of them, I mean where does he get the content anyway? If you write it yourself, then you really need to be very familiar with the content and probably need to constantly update yourself in that field, e.g Darren writes about digital cameras, printers, robotics, - very technical indeed, and a very 'techie' person.

More 'techie' than me actually.

Anyway, as I was saying, the easiest way to make money from blogs and rss feeds is to teach others about the technology.
