What Are RSS Feeds? RSS Feeds Explained
top 5 web sites that come up. I bet you still don't come close to understanding
the meaning of it.
The reason is simple enough, most of the explanation are written in technical jargon
by search engine people or other "techies". No wonder you don't understand!
In my multimedia e-book "Marketing Rampage with Blogs and RSS" I have a diagram that
illustrates very clearly what is RSS. My experience as an ex Physics teacher gives me the
insight to understanding how people learn, and analogies and visualization are a good way to
explain complex things to people. My multimedia e-book was designed with this in mind.
Imagine a TV station. You record the program once, and you distribute it to everyone's home
that has a TV set. Imagine, if there is no TV station, how would you do it? Record on CDs
and distribute thousands of it? And all this is made possible using data communication.
The technology involved is data communication.
Likewise imagine a Radio station. Record a song once, and beam it to anyone who has a radio set.
Anyone wanting to listen to a certain genre of music just need to tune in to the right channel.
And all this is made possible with radio communication. The technology here is radio communication.
RSS is just a method to allow your newsletter, blog contents, web pages, to be circulated or
sydnicated by other web sites, without the hassle of copying and pasting numerous times.
The technology here is a programming language called XML, which YOU NEED NOT KNOW OR LEARN.
ANYONE can create Rss feeds WITHOUT programming knowledge. If you know how to use a mouse, you can create rss feeds. GUARANTEED. And my multimedia e-book shows you how.
In the past (still is today) anyone that wants to sydnicate someone else's content the 1st time
would have to do a search, go to the specific website, copy the contents and paste it in his own ezine or web site.
Would it be any different the 2nd time? The process would be the same and is repetitive.
However, with RSS feeds, all the repetitive task is removed.
a) If you are a publisher, you can
i) use/syndicate other people's contents, just by copying his feed URL
ii) allow others to syndicate YOUR content, again just by providing your feed URL
The step or process is only 1 time, like the TV and Radio station example.
b) If you are a user/subscriber, by using a newsreader (software that allows you to read news feed
explained in Lesson 10), you have PEACE in the sense that you no longer need to provide your
email address and get bombarded daily with sales messages from ezines.
You have the POWER to choose what and whose news feed you want to read.

RSS Advertising More Superior Than Email
Pheedo ran the campaign for 6 weeks and from their results, RSS feeds outperformed the best click through rate in email by over 26% as compared to the industry average of 8.7%.
Surprised?
RSS advertising has a number of 'superior' advantages compared to email ads:
1. RSS feeds does not face a delivery issue in an anti-SPAM environment that is being filled with filters, anti-virus software or whatever program that is put in place by the user to block SPAM and unwanted emails.
2. RSS feeds cost ZERO to track. With a burned feed, you can easily track how many people are subscribing to your feed.
With email, if you want to track how many of your mails were delivered, you would have to pay for the additional services.
The cost savings due to RSS advertising is easily double, if not more.
A simple mathematical illustration can prove this:
Let's say Cost per 1,000 impressions = $50
And you want to do 10,000 impressions per week.
So the cost would be = $50 x 10 = $500 per week.
With Email Advertising, you would need to include email monitoring delivery charges.
So your total cost would be $500 + X per week
x is the additonal costs for email monitoring delivery
So your advertising costs go up. Mutiply the above figure with 48 weeks (1 year) and you can see how costly it is to run email advertising campaigns.
With RSS Advertising, there is ZERO monitory delivery charges.
You maximise every penny from your advertising dollar, and the costs go down!
3. RSS feeds is 100% Opt-in. We're talking about readers who know what they want and educated enough to know how to subscribe to feeds, either with desktop readers or through the use of some online newsreader such as Bloglines, MyYahoo and so on.
Yes, there is also 'opt-in' email. But then again, opt-in email is getting less effective because of:
a) constant bombardment of emails from other marketers and advertisers, making the subscribers 'numb' to advertising message
b) keywords that trigger off SPAM filter, causing failed delivery message
RSS feeds do not face these two problems. RSS feeds has a 100% delivery rate and has no SPAM issue as it is a feed, not email.

How RSS Feeds Can Help Your Online Business
1. RSS Feeds allow you to deliver your newsletter/message directly to the desktop of your subscribers and readers, BYPASSING email.
As you might have read or heard, email is not getting through to a lot of people, especially now with CAN SPAM law in place, ISPs are filtering a lot of emails with certain subjectlines in them.
Imagine if you have a 10,000 list and 20% of your emails doesn't get through.
That means 2,000 mails are not being delivered. How much sales are you losing from this alone?
It is also costly to hire services that help you do the monitoring and ensure your autoresponders/emails get through.
Your readers and subscribers themselves are getting numb to the constant bombardment of emails from other parties, bear in mind they are not just subscribing to your newsletter.
With RSS Feeds, you can get your readers to subscribe to your news feed using a newsreader software or online web service for reading rss feeds).
This way you can bypass all the email SPAM and reach 100% your readers.
And with some good headlines, you can bet your message gets read.
2. Get your site listed by YAHOO within 24 hours and save $299
With RSS Feeds, you can get your site listed in Yahoo within 24 hours and save $299. Yahoo is currently building an RSS directory and as such has inadvertently opened a "back door", allowing people to list their website with RSS feeds.
This secret is revealed in my multimedia ebook, with video tutorials showing you how to do it. Each day more people are discovering this secret, and I'm not sure when Yahoo will pull the plug.
3. Dominate niche market with RSS feeds.
You can create multiple RSS feeds centered around targeted keywords and submit them to RSS directories.
There are people who are actually looking for good content online and wants to read and subscribe to news feeds.
They might be searching for news on the keyword "cooking" for example. When someone performs a keyword search and you have your feeds built around that keyword, it will turn up and you get to have more subscribers when they subscribe to your news feeds.
4. More subscribers, more leads, more sales.
RSS feeds give you a wider reach and gain more subscribers you otherwise would not have gotten.
More subscribers mean more leads, and more sales!
RSS allows your newsletter, messages, ads to be syndicated all over the web, giving you a wider reach you otherwise would not have.
Imagine a giant octopus with unlimited tentacles stretching all over the sea searching, looking...well, with RSS feeds, basically you're doint the same thing.
You have to submit your rss feeds though, to the relevant directories, otherwise noboby knows about it.
5. Podcasting
Podcast is the latest application of RSS feeds. Have you heard of webcast?
With Webcast, you have to go to the website where the audio file (mp3 file) is stored.
Podcast take it one step further.
It allows you to syndicate your mp3 audio files (such as a web cast or tele-seminar) all over the web and even allows you to download to Apple Ipod.
Your potential customer and readers can listen to your message even without being at the PC. Isn't that fantastic?

I just had a call today from Michael Senoff, from ExecutiveAudioInstitute.com
I had emailed him earlier exploring the possibility of a joint venture, to endorse my video e-book, "Marketing Rampage with Blogs and Rss" and he's pretty interested in the use of blogs and rss to bring more traffic to his site.
He's from US and I'm from Singapore
And so he called me at 6.30 am in the morning.
We started talking and he asked me this question: What is RSS Feed?
I was still groggy having just wake up so early and I was thinking what would be the best way to explain it to him, to a normal non-techie person.
So I used this analogy:
Say you have a radio station. You record the song once, and then anyone wanting to listen to this song just tunes in to the right channel.
The technology that made this possible is radio communications.
Without the proper technology, you would probably have to record a thousand copies of the song onto the cd and distribute it to a thousand people everytime someone wants to listen to it.
So likewise, on the Internet, you record /write your materials once, and then anyone who wants to read/listen to your materials just select your Rss feed.
The technology here is RSS (which is based on XML)
It's that simple.
So Now, you have an audience and traffic you otherwise would not have, had you not created the feed.

Beat the New Google AdWord Rules with Blogs and RSS
But first let's have a little history lesson and go back in time...
When Google Adwords first came on scene, it was not immediately apparent to most people how to utilize the system to create wealth, until John Carpenter popularised it with his Google Cash system, a book he wrote some time back.
Since then, Google Adwords has become one of the main traffic generation tools for most affiliates.
It was the fastest way to generate traffic.
By now, most people would have learnt about the latest Google Ruling on their Adwords' programs
Basically it goes like this:
1) Google will only display two ads for the same website at the same time AND only ads with the best click thru rate,
2) You can remove the three letter word 'aff' from your ads, if you are a reseller.
How do you ensure you are the top 2 ads without having to bid up keywords until your nose bleed?
With this new ruling, there will only be 2 ads displayed at any one time, and only for ads that has the best click through rates.
The rationale is that there isn't any value add to show multiple ads that all point to the same web site.
In any case, experienced affiliate marketers would probably capture the email address of the person who clicked on the Google Ad, via a mini site or 1 page site, rather than directing the person straight away to the vendor's web site.
That was in the past Before the announcement by Google. You can still do that with the new ruling, but we're talking about only 2 ads being displayed.
So how do we counter the latest 'dance' from Google?
I have a solution which targets two key areas of concern:
1. Offering Value Add content through the use of Blogs,
2. Getting F.R.E.E Targeted Traffic with RSS Feeds,
so that you can get more leads, subscribers and ultimately make more money.
Thousands of blog communities are springing up all over the Net, with READY readers and subscribers who are your potential clients and buyers.
And depending on what you are trying to market (as an affiliate) you can easily set up a blog centered just around the topic which relates to that product, and then syndicate it using Rss to give you F.R.E.E targeted traffic.
My Multimedia e-book shows you excellent examples how to set up one, and how to use it as a lethal marketing weapon
Besides it's powerful use as a F.R.E.E traffic tool, Blogs and Rss give your potential clients value add in terms of useful contents.
Since you have to make postings to your blog, you are in a way 'forced' to study the area in which you want to market to (e.g. weight loss) and provide good value add information, very much like a 'consultant'.
Which in a way is good for anyone wanting to build a sustainable business and stay in the 'game' in the long run, as you begin to build your own list, and cultivate the relationship with your readers and exisitng clients.
(I can't reveal too much here, for the benefit of my clients that paid for this information.)
When Google Ads came onto the scene, people who took advantage of it, like Chris Carpenter made quite a nice sum of money.
The same thing goes for blogs and rss. You want to get in now, when you have the advantage.
And if you still don't have any feeds running, you're really leaving *lots* of money on the table.
I'd strongly suggest you grab a copy of my book and get started.

If you're selling slimming pills, you can have a blog just related to weight loss.
Next, turn your blog into an rss feed and syndicate it all over the Net, by submitting to the 27 major blog directories and 41 major rss directories.
(There might be more at time of writing, but these are the main ones I submit to.)
Besides it's ability as a traffic tool, blogs give your potential clients value add in terms of useful contents you make.
