How a Marketing Dummy Overcame All Odds...

It's the last day of 2004 over here in Singapore. Are you ready for 2005?

Before we end 2004, here's a real life story I want to share. And it's about myself.

This is a story about someone who:

1. Had no idea what internet marketing is about
2. Had no idea what to sell
3. Had no friends or parnters
4. Had no list
5. can't or dont like copywriting
6. No marketing experience
7. and only enjoys playing computer games...

and yet overcame all odds, fears and doubts about himself to make a tiny weeny little bit of money on the net, being a total "marketing dummy".

I thought i'd share this story with you, hoping that if you're in a similar situation as myself, you might find courage and inspiration and go after your dreams.

WARNING: The story is Long and also LIFE CHANGING....Read at your own risk!

I started to learn about Internet Marketing only in August of this year. I bought a few products here and there but was still clueless nor any closer to actually making money online. In fact, I had no idea what I was doing.

I vividly remember the first product I bought, Google Cash. I was very excited and started reading it. And by the next day, I opened a Google account and started placing ads. I thought it was quite fun, watching the clicks coming in, not thinking that each click cost me money (ouch!)

I found the whole process of tweaking the keywords to be rather messy and cumbersome to my liking, so I stopped.

Later on, I bought other products here and there, on affiliate marketing but was still no where closer to learning or understanding how the whole internet thing worked.

I came across James Maduk's site, and it was here that i slowly began piecing the pieces together. I joined his membership site and watched his Whiteboard lessons which highly appealed to me as I'm a visual learner.

Well, it was slowly getting clearer but...i still had no idea what to sell or do!

I flew all the way to Los Angeles on a back breaking 20 hour flight to attend the Big Seminar in LA It was great meeting all these "net celebrities" like your Hollywood celebrities, but again as a newbie I only found myself more confused.

It was also at this time that I dicovered about "spiritual marketing", and the "Wealth Beyond Reason" program that Bob Doyle created.

By reading the materials and practicing it, I slowly became more confident, and understood the concept of "abundance" in this world and that I needed to eliminate the "lack" or "scarcity"
mentality within me.

And today in Science,in the field of Quantum Physics, quantum physicists have proven that all matter are just "energy sparks"

I started meditating, listening to a specially created soundtrack which is specially created to put a person in a meditative state and visualizing what I want.

In November, I started creating my first product. I decided I will follow Jame's style of creating multimedia e-books, however, as I dont have my own server or Mimio whiteboard software, I decided I will just use Flash.

I didn't know if it was going to sell or not. I didn't do any keyword research on Overture or Word tracker. I just wanted to DO IT. And I worked until 4 am every day for the next 10 days.

I did my research and used my background in teaching to put together a course that will will really ensure Learning takes place, that the person can understand easily and accelerate his mastery of the subject.

I listed the product with Clickbank, but there was a problem. I didn't know how to market.

Using meditation and "spiritual marketing", amazing things began to happen. I received a mail from Mark Hendrick about some Christmas gifts. out of curiosity I went there, and indeed there was a lot of goodies.

And I noticed some gifts were not ready for days 10, 11 12. And so I emailed Mark, asking him if I can contribute my gifts. And he said yes!

And what did I Contribute? Well, my own video e-book, of course! As my book was on blogs and rss, I decided to separate the blog portion into Part 1, and I believe I gave lots of value inside.

In order to continue with their education in rss marketing, I offered a 50% discount off my normal retail price of $97, which I felt was a really good investment considering the amount of value
they are receiving. Besides, the price of $97 has been proven to work, as the first few sales were all done at that price.

Since then I have been receiving loads of subscribers every day.

I registered the domain name, and when it came to the sales letter, that was my greatest nightmare.

Oh my God! I have never written any sales letter in my whole life and i didnt know how, i didnt like copywriting in the first place.

Again, I meditated using the meditation sound track that came along, and slowly asked my Inner Being for an answer. My Inner Being guided me, to look at sample sales letter.

One day I just found a quiet spot in my house near the window, sat down, and started writing I just let the words just flow out from me, without any resistance.

I finished the sales letter within the same day. Later on I were to meet a friend Clifford Mee who has become one of my good and trusted online friends. He recorded a video to explain what I should do to make my letter better, and I followed all his advice.

This seems to work, because the conversion went up after that.

From this story, as you can see, even if you have no money, no list, no friends, no ideas, if there is something that your heart desire, you just need to ASK and ALLOW it to come into your life.

A lot of people get too HUNG UP on the "HOW". How can i do this? How can I do that?

Just LET GO, BELIEVE and the UNIVERSE will deliver it to you.

Opportunities will appear, Events will happen, People appear in your life, Ideas come from within you, the words, everything.

Marketing Rampage Sales will be donated in part for Tsunami victims

You must have heard. Or saw on TV. Or Read in the papers.

Initially I was quite excited and thrilled about the coming new year, and had lots of plans and resolutions lined up.

However, as of now, my thoughts have drifted to the tens of thousands of victims who were killed and the damage inflicted upon these countries in the wake of the killer "tsunami" in Asia. I'm sure you've heard or read of it, unless of course you've been hibernating.

And I really want to do my part to help. Believe me, you would too, once you've seen the photos.

Basically I'm trying to raise funds for the Singapore Red Cross Society, to help with their relief operations, and would like to appeal to you for your help.

Here's my proposal:

When in doubt, Just Ask! It Speeds up Success!

This is a real life story from yours truly. Read it and learn from it.

1. As a beginner in Internet Marketing, I had no subscriber base. I only started my internet marketing journey in mid August this year.

I created what I believed was a good, quality product, a multimedia e-book on using blogs and rss for marketing ("Marketing Rampage for Blogs and RSS"). Without a subscriber base I had no one to market to. And I didn't know how.

So I asked my friend Clifford, who taught me how to market my e-book, such as submitting it to e-book directories, posting at forums and so on. And it worked. I made my 1st sale the following day, after posting to forums. I was jubilant when I checked my e-mail and saw the invoice from Clickbank.

2. I received a mail asking me to claim my Christmas presents from Mark Hendricks "12 Days" promotion page. I went to the page, downloaded the goodies and saw that Day 10, 11 and 12 are still not ready.

And the first thing that came to my mind was "Why not ask Mark if I can contribute a gift" I wrote to Mark and asked about contributing a gift and received a reply immediately (he was at the PC) giving me the link to the details.

And so I submitted my gift, it was approved and he said it would go live on Sunday. On Dec 20 morning when I woke up, I turned on my computer as usual to check the e-mails and all I saw was a FLOOD of email notices telling me that I have a new subscriber. All in all, it totalled about 200+ subscribers.

Again, I was exhilarated and seriously I jumped up and down in my room.

As the Christmas promotion went on, I continue to receive more subscribers And all this because I asked.

3. Likewise, when I wanted to buy a pdf brander. I thought the one used by most people was too expensive. I didn't want to pay too much so again I turn to my good friend, Clifford and asked. And he told me where to get one for only $17.

4. Finally, the contributions from a community blog I started was made possible by the generosity of other people's time and efforts. And all I did was to ASK.

What can you learn from all this? Simple! If you want something Just Ask.
When in doubt, Ask. Ask and you will receive. The Bible says so too.

Asking helps to speed up your success.

Perhaps you still don't realize or fully understand the power of RSS Feeds as a marketing tool.After all, email works fine, doesn't it?

1. It's getting harder to send e-mails to the prospect's inbox because of SPAM filters

Backing up Critical Marketing Data

I was busy backing up crtical data onto my trusty Creative CD Burner. I love Creative's products, they're well known for their sound cards

Before you proceed any further in your marketing efforts, ask yourself:

-Do you backup your critical data every week? (heck, you should do it daily, but...)
-If your hard disk or computer fails, can you get critical data (files, etc) and get your site up and running?

I'm not just talking about your web hosting backup - i'm refering to the work that you do on your pc/laptop daily, your downloads, your important files...

do you know how scary it is if you do not have any backup for them?

make it a habit to backup critical data from now on. It is just as important a 'marketing' effort as driving traffic to your site
